What is Faith? Part 4

Many people think of faithfulness in the context of marriage. True, it is important to only be united with one's spouse, partnered with them for life. But even more important than being faithful to a spouse is being faithful to Allah by praying.
When things are going well, money to spend frivolously and food to enjoy gluttonously, we're happy. Allah is good, and occasionally praying Salah seems like the right thing to do. But as soon as there's a gap in the financial flow, a hurdle gets in the way of our wants and desires, a weakness or a disease impedes our lifestyle, we want to give up faith in Allah, and stop praying.
An unfaithful person is like a wave in the ocean, moved entirely by the direction of the wind. An individual like this is unstable in everything they do. In other words, they are given over completely to impulsive and unpredictability. They lack sincerity, and as a result are constantly pulled in different directions. Their spiritual attention is held only about as long as it takes for the next bump in the road to appear. But as soon as something shakes them, they want to run.
Allah desires each one of His creation to have faith and pray to Him, even when we don't understand His ways. Allah did not promise a pain-free life. But to those who remain devouted to Him in prayer, He promises strength enough for today and hope for tomorrow.
