2016 US Presidential Elections are a nightmare. Ghouls and monsters are candidates. They are insane occultists with knives against every Black, Mexican, Muslim person. Blood splatters over our eyeballs every time they speak. The GOP and DNC conventions literally felt like being dropped in the middle of a supernatural freakshow and then being strapped to a chair inside Arkham asylum (next to Joker and Harley Quinn). Not just Americans but the entire world feels high levels of angst and distress. If they can screw with our lives in such a major way before the actual elections, imagine the melancholy and hysterical misery they will cause after.
The candidates are outright cruel lunatics with lose canons against all civil liberties. We need a compassionate President. If someone like the Prophet Muhammad (s.a.w) was running for the American presidency, we would literally have peace on Earth and goodwill towards all human beings. This is not a clique but a realistic utopian vision and application of peace in a just democratic society.
When the Prophet Muhammad (s.a.w) embraced Madina as an elected leader, people rushed to hear him speak for the first time. The streets were resounding with the echoes of, "The Messenger of Allah has come!" Abdullah ibn Salam (r.a) said, I came along with the people to see him (s.a.w), and when I looked at his face, I realized that his face was not the face of a liar.
Prophet Muhammad (s.a.w) was not someone who was shouting, his brows furrowed in anger, both arms raised in the air. Prophet Muhammad (s.a.w) was not smug or dishonest when he spoke to people. According to a HuffPost/YouGov poll, American people describe Hillary as hornswoggled and Trump as clustersf*. Abu Ishaq narrated that Al-Bara' was asked to describe the face of the Prophet Muhammad (s.a.w). He said, "the Prophet's face (s.a.w) was as bright as the moon." (Bukhari). Ka'b bin Malik (r.a) said, "when the Prophet Muhammad (s.a.w) used to greet people, his face would glitter with happiness as if it was a piece of the moon." (Bukhari)
The most common words to describe Hillary and Trump are: liar and arrogant; crocked and dangerous. Aisha (r.a) said, "Prophet Muhammad (s.a.w)'s face was the most beautiful among all men and his complex was the most luminous." Umar (r.a) said, "I have never seen anybody more stronger, braver, more generous and more benevolent; more pure and more radiant than the Prophet Muhammad (s.a.w)." (Darami) Unlike Melania Trump, Aisha (r.a) didn't plagiarize her speech and neither was Umar (r.a) promised money or a position in the oval office for his false endorsement.
If the Prophet Muhammad (s.a.w) was running for President today, the following would be his party platform:
1. Spread Salam (the greeting of Peace)
Salam in Arabic means: (a) to be peaceful, to be friendly, to be in a good state; (b) to be free from imperfections in personality, character, in intent, words and demeanour and (c) to be safe and secure and to give the guarantee of safety and security to others. This means the Prophet Muhammad (s.a.w) would welcome the 42.4 million immigrants of all ethnic denominations in the US and he (s.a.w) would appreciate the religious differences of 85, 000 refugees .
There will be no illegal searches, police shootings or secret trials. The NSA'S domestic spying program or the President's Surveillance Program, monitors without warrants, millions of Americans: including their AT&T, MCI, and Sprint records. They possess intimate knowledge of our names, street addresses, personal information - along with detailed records of calls we make - across town or across the country to family members, coworkers and business co. Under Prophet Muhammad (s.a.w)'s spread salam policy, everyone will have freedom of thought and respectful speech without prejudice. All people will be able to live freely with presumed innocence, without fear of being watched, shot or tried preemptively. In the first 24 days of 2015, the police in the US fatally shot more civilians than police did in England and Wales, combined, over the past 24 years. Over 800 people were detained in Guantanamo based on secret trials and evidence.
Allah says, "and when the ignorant address them, they reply with words of peace." (Qur'an, 25:63) The Prophet Muhammad (s.a.w) would not be confrontational or aggressive with people who speak foreign languages or dress differently than he does. He (s.a.w) would always maintain a level of courtesy: no matter how different, or obscene or vulgar he thought someone was. The Prophet Muhammad (s.a.w) would not say or do anything to disturb national unity and love. He (s.a.w) would be the last person to harm anyone with his words or his actions. The Prophet Muhammad (s.a.w) said, "a Muslim does not cause hram or return harm," not even to those who provoke him. (Ibn Majah) The US military has killed more than 20 million people un 37 victim nations since WWII. Under the Prophet Muhammad (s.a.w), there would be no foreign invasions, no selling of arms, installing dictators or funding rebel groups abroad.
2. Feed the hungry
Abdullah ibn Umar (r.a) reported, a man came to the Prophet Muhammad (s.a.w) and asked, "Whose Islam is the best?" In other words, who is the best Muslim? The Prophet Muhammad (s.a.w) said, "The who one feeds the hungry and greets with Salam (peace and safety) those you know and those you do not know." (Bukhari). This policy of the Prophet Muhammad (s.a.w) would support sustainable, long-term poverty alleviation of 48.1 million Americans who live in food insecure households. He (s.a.w) would sponsor permanent housing for 1.49 million homeless people. There will be no Wall Street cronies eroding the economy, guzzling the senior pension plan or destroying the housing market. The banks will not leverage our savings. Instead, Prophet Muhammad (s.a.w) would invest money in each and every woman and man to get professional training and educational credentials necessary to support and feel good about themselves. There would be fully funded childcare programs, drug treatments, transportation subsidies, health care including metal health coverage and educational and business loans to support all low income families and welfare recipients.
Ammar ibn Yasir (r.a) said, "Whoever has three qualities will have completed the faith (lived Islam fully): fairness from yourself to others, offering peace (safety and security) to the world, and spending in charity even while poor." (Bukhari) That said, the Prophet Muhammad (s.a.w) would extend social justice to everyone. All people will share a common humanity, right to equitable treatment, support for their human rights and fair allocation of community resources without any discrimination based on gender, sexual orientation, religious or political affiliation, age, race, disability, location or social class.
3. Pray at night
The Prophet Muhammad (s.a.w) was a God-fearing man and he had an extremely personal relationship with God. The idea of personal relationship with God should not be taken to mean a privatized faith. The Prophet Muhammad (s.a.w)'s relationship with Allah was both personal and social. He (s.a.w) loved Allah and he (s.a.w) also loved his fellow human beings - black, white, red, brown and yellow. His (s.a.w) personal relationship with Allah transcended into all his relationships - caring for the least and loving even his enemies.
The Qur'an is very clear, the Prophet Muhammad (s.a.w) loves us (all of us). He (s.a.w) was so concerned for our welfare and prosperity that Allah says, "perhaps he (s.a.w) will kill himself through grief over us (our well-being)." (Qur'an, 18:6). The Prophet Muhammad (s.a.w) cares for us regardless of where we've been, what we've done, the failures, the hurts, the struggles, however successful or empty we happen to be. The Prophet Muhammad (s.a.w) will call us out, and if we seek him (s.a.w), he would pray with us.
No matter how short we have fallen from the glory of God - I don't mean a few bad things but suppose we have entirely missed the mark, we will never lose favour with the Prophet Muhammad (s.a.w).
We need someone like the Prophet Muhammad (s.a.w) to run for US elections. Someone who will implement his (s.a.w) party platform, mimic his morals and adopt his resilience.
God help us all - ameen.

bn Katheer states: As Salaam is the One who is Free from all imperfections and deficiencies, because of the Perfection of His Being, of His Attributes and His Actions. He is So Perfect, He does not have any imperfections. For example, He is Living and is free from the imperfection of death. His Knowledge is free from the imperfection of forgetfulness. His Attributes are free from the imperfection of being similar to any creation. His Actions are perfect, whatever He does there is Hikmah (wisdom) behind it.
ReplyDeleteAl Qurtubi states: As Salaam is the One who is safe from all deficiencies. He explains as Salaam in three ways:
1) The One free from every fault, and He is absolved of every deficiency.
2) He gives Salaam to His ebaad (slaves) in Jannah. We learn from the Qur’an that the dwellers of paradise will be greeted with salaam, by Allah, by the angels and by each other. In surah Yaseen verse 58, Allah ta’ala says: سَلَامٌ قَوْلًا مِن رَّبٍّ رَّحِيمٍ People in Jannah will be told “Salaam, a statement from their Rabb, the Most Merciful.”
3) The One whose creation is free from His dhulm (injustice). He keeps His creations safe from any injustice on His part and His creation is free from injustice from Him. What does this tell us? If Allah is As Salaam, there is no way He can be unjust. Many times we read in the Qur’an: ‘Allah did not wrong them, rather they wronged themselves’.
This article should be republished on the front cover of major American news outlets. Loved the intro--an excellent capture in time of our common sentiment.
ReplyDeleteEven though the Prophet SAW in his peaceful wisdom, compassion and charismatic character is no longer with us--those of us who embody his teachings, can still impact society, even if just a scratch.
