Summary: Quran Juz 11 and 12

Summary of Juz 11

·        Ayah 120-121: Allah gives reward for the thirst and hunger endured for His Cause
-(The university does not give you credit for being sleep deprived but Allah does).

·        Ayah 122:  Purpose of Islamic Center
 Every city should have a major place were people from all around can come and learn Islam. Thereafter they should return to their neighboods to teach and train those who were unable to attend class in person
-Al Maghrib and Al Kauthar students should hold halaqas in Masajid and in their own small communities/social circle so that knowledge disseminates to all corners of society. Let the teachings of Islam reach every person.

·        Ayah 126: Test and tribulations are a part of life, especially if one is a Muslim

·        Ayah 128: A good leader/teacher is a well wisher. She wants her followers to succeed.

Ayah 129:
Read every morning and evening 7 times hasbi Allah , la illaha illahu illa huwa alaihi tawakaltu wa huwa rabbul arshil azeem.

SURAH YUNUS


Ayah 10: the greeting of the people of Paradise is “salam”

Ayah 12: A Muslim is thankful of Allah even when harm reaches her.

Ayah 57: Quran is a Healing

-the Qur’an will be a witness on the Day of Judgement
-recite the Qur’an secretly (to yourself in private) and openly (to the public)

Ayah 61: Allah witnesses the recitation of Quran

Ayah 79: The magicians accepted the miracles of Musa (a.s)
-there are two types of seeing: (a) to see something casually as a matter of fact seeing (b) to see and understand the in depth/intricate details of that which is apparent.

Ayah 92: The body of Pharaoh is a lesson

Surah HUD

Ayah 1-5 – Meeting with Allah

Reflection:
-good deeds erase sins
-We can do business with Allah. Allah wants to purchase our lives and wealth in exchange for Paradise.
-Avoid being friends with hypocrites because they are lazy and they do not support the Deen.


Summary of JUZ"12"

From Surah HUD (6-123) to  Surah YUSUF (1-52).

Abu Bakr (ra) noticed some white strands of hair in the Prophets beard (s.a.w). He (s.a.w) said that Surah Hud and its sister Surah has aged him (stressed him).
Perished Nations
Istaghfaar – to show humility, find instant peace

SURAH YUSUF

Content
Family dynamics: role of parents, upbringing of children, sibling rivalry,
Patience of Yaqoob (a.s)
The Prophet Muhammad (s.a.w) said, Yusuf was  al karim ibnel karim ibnul karim ibnul karim; Ysuf bin Yaqub bin Isaac bin Ibrahim


Ayah 7: Allah created humans to see who is most noble in character

Ayah 9-10: There are people who are easily disappointed and discouraged when they lose something.
-Life is a test to see which one of us maintains good character despite suffering loss – of respect, loved one, job etc.
-Then there are the other type of people who are easily proud. They are over confident and boastful of everything that they have achieved. They credit themselves and forget that their achievements are blessings of Allah. They have earned nothing on their own accord.

Ayah 15-16:  If you want dunya, Allah will give it to you
-if one works hard for this dunya, it will be given to her but she will have no share in the rewards of the Hereafter (because she did not work for them).
-Why do we support the Deen? Why the long beard and/or hijab? Is it to blend in with a Muslim crowd? Simply to establish our identity as Muslims? Or is it a sign of submission to Allah: Ya Allah, I submit myself to you inside and out – my body and my heart will listen to Your every command (amen).

Ayah 25: Nation of Nuh (as)

Ayah 31:
There are some people who appear miserable, really dumb and stupid to everyone. But if they were to swear by Allah, Allah would make it happen, if they ask anything from Allah, He will give it to them.
-there are some people who seem really popular but they are worthless to Allah.
-a Muslim is a woman of substance, she is more than her clothes

Ayah 50: Nation of Aad
-Hud (as) wanted his people to ask for forgives ness
Ayah 75 : Ibrahim (as) was haleem, awaah, and muneeb-  forbearing, invoking  Allah with humility and with the purpose of seeking His forgiveness.

Ayah 78: NAtion of Lut (as) was committing acts of homosexuality were targeted with stones that pelted them and their entire city was turned upside down

Ayah 84: The people of Shuaib (as) – used to cheat in business, by giving less goods for the price of more

Ayah 85: Give according to the actual price, do not diminish from the goods but take full money

Ayah 94: this nation os Shoaib was destroyed by loud sound; human being is so vulnerable before Allah, a single sound can kill him

Surah Yusuf

Ayah 1: Allah chose to reveal the Qur’an in Arabic because no other language has velocity and depth in its words

Ayah 4-6: There are three types of dreams: truth from Allah (good news from Muslim), whispers of Shaytan (scare the Muslim), stuff that we did or were thinking about during the day repeats itself in our dream.
-do not share your nightmares and do not give interpretation of bad dreams.

Ayah 5: every person who has been given any blessing will be envied.
-recite Surah al Falaq
-Evil eye can prevent you from doing good deeds. So if you have a great idea, don’t mention it to anyone until you have implemented it.
-Yaqub (a.s) is not backbiting against his sons. He only hints at their character by saying that shaytan man overcome them with jealous if they find out about Yusuf (a.s)’s dream.
-it is not permissible to backbite about someone even if the bad quality attributed to them is a part of their character. We cannot defame a person even when they are bad. However we can hint of the possibility of evil without attributing it to a person.

Ayah 22: Every tragedy was a process through which Allah taught Yusuf (a.s) wisdom and interpretation of dreams
-heroes are not made by luxury. A hero is toughened and trained by making him endure hardship
-The hardships in life are suppose to mould us into good people. If we become bad as a result of our circumstances, then we have not benefit from the training Allah had wished to give us. We failed the test.

Ayah 23-29: Sexual temptation
-Yusuf (a.s) did not betray Allah after remembering His favours upon him
-We cannot blame our environment: people who do not maintain their chastity/modesty often make the excuse that because they are living in a very hyper sexuality society, it is hard for them to lower their gaze, wear a hijab etc.  Remember all that Allah has done for you and d not give up His pleasure for a temporal gratification
-Run away from places where there is temptation
-Ask Allah to protect you, morning and evening adhkaar are a means of Allah’s protection against sins

Ayah 36-52: Giving Da’wah in prison
-have such an friendly personality, that even the worst of people feel welcomed by you and are comfortable approaching you with their personal needs
