Brief Summary of JUZ"10"

Surah ANFAAL (41-75)

Ayah 41: Allah answers the Sahaba’s question (companions of the Prophet (s.a.w) regarding the distribution of war booty, mentioned in the beginning of the Surah.
-The purpose of war is not to collect spoils. The real intention is the maintain the freedom of practicing Islam, established the truth against falsehood and making Allah’s Name supreme.
Ayah 43: Allah helped the Muslims at Badr by making the disbelievers appear few in number.
-Allah removed the Ru’ab / fear (of the disbelievers)
Ayah 45: Stay firm in whatever battle you are fighting against shaytan by making a lot of dikhr
Ayah 46: obey Allah and His Messenger (saw); do not argue with each other otherwise you will lose confidence; be patient, Allah is with the patient.
-in order to work for the Deen, I need the following qualities:
·        sincerity (no showing off or self projection), steadfastness (consistency in my efforts),
·        make lots of dikhr, do not argue with colleagues (it brings the morale down of the entire team and spreads fitnah/dissension and mistrust),
·        observe utmost patience (avoid emotional outburst and backbiting),
·        I should not stop people from the way of Allah (my negative attitude: complaining or nagging can put people off)
Ayah 49: Whenever anyone starts to work for the Deen (either she begins to improve her Deen or makes herself available to help others with their Deen), they are considered crazy.
-Do not be disheartened, your reward is with Allah.
-Perhaps those who criticize you today, will become your followers tomorrow on condition that you are sincere, patient and consistent upon the Deen.
Ayah 50: The punishment in the afterlife starts with Death.
-evidence of punishment before the Judgement in the realm of Barzakh (grave)
Ayah 53: Allah helps those who help themselves.
-We are required to take the first step towards Allah, Allah will take 10 steps towards us.

Ayah 55: The worst of creation on earth are those who give in to their desires
-they cannot see beyond their need and only adhere to what suits their interests

Ayah 60: Be ready and prepared to defend Islam militarily through skill, wealth and team work.
Ayah61: If the enemy inclines towards peace in battle, call truce.

Ayah 62: even they intend to deceive you , put your trust in Allah;

Ayah 65: Role of a leader
- when the team is demotivated, remind them of the luxuries and gifts of Paradise
- it is wisdom to compromise on little things for the sake of the sake of the greater good.

Ayah: 72 -74: there are 2 kinds of people who work for the Deen: those who leave their homes in the way of Allah and those who support the people who have left their homes in the way of Allah
-I should put my share in the work of Allah through money or other means of contribution if I cannot physically take part
-the Muhajireen of Makkah and Ansaar (helpers of Madinah) are our role models
Surah ATTawbah: (1-93)

This is the only Suraah in the Quran that does not begin with the Name of Allah. Every message in every Surah is a mercy from Allah except Surah atTawbah which begins with an ultimatum for declaration of war.

Ayah 1: boycott  from Allah swt and RasoolAllah SAW.

Ayah 2: A 4 moth ultimatum is announced to the people of Makkah to either become Muslim or leave the holy land.
Ayah 4: Allah loves those leave sin out of respect for Him.
Ayah 17: Allah accepts only those good deeds which are performed under the pretext of correct belief. The people of Makkah used to serve the pilgrims and perform Tawaf but their good deeds were not accepted by Allah because their belief in Allah was devoid of Tawheed (they believed in Allah but called upon many gods, celestial bodies and the dead besides him).
-imaam/ correct belief in Allah is a prerequisite to every good deed
-believe in Allah the way He wants to be believed.

Ayah 18-19: I should strive in the way of Allah with my life and my wealth
Ayah 24: if family and wealth and houses are more dearer to me than Allah then I need only wait for Allah’s retribution (for choosing material things over Him which He gave to me in the first place).
-Allah does not love those who sin over and over again deliberately
Ayah 25: Do not rely upon strength of numbers of weapons over the help of Allah. Material support are meaningless without His aid.

Ayah 34: The folly of some religious scholars who exploit position in society to manipulate innocent people who look up to them.
Ayah 38: Do not allow the comforts of this world to make you lazy
Ayah 39: if I do not go out in the way of Allah, Allah will replace me with a better people who will love Him (and actively participate in progressing the Deen of Islam) and Allah will love them.

Ayah40: Allah’s help will come, even if it is just one man
- there are two types of work: personal and the work of Deen. The battle of Tabbuk demanded the sacrifice of personal livelihood (neglect the season of harvest) and comfort (travel in summer and cover a long distance). Many people gave excuses and stayed behind.
- If a person predetermines for herself that she will not be able to do a good deed, she will never be able to perform it. Unless she makes the intention to be in the way of Allah then Allah gives her incredible strength and an opportunity out of the blue or at least give her the reward of what she has intended.

Ayah 46: There are so many opportunities to do good but we do not avail them because we have not made the intention to do so. Ask Allah to be chosen for the work of His Deen.
Ayah  47: Do not grieve the loss of hypocrites (sometimes you lose friends or relations because of differences in Deen) they would have created fitnah and fasad (hindered you from the work of Deen).
Ayah 54: Quality of hypocrites
- they procrastinate when it comes to performing Salah
-they drag themselves to pray and during Salah they are lazy (rush through each step in Salah as if they don’t care).
- spend (in the way of Allah) grudgingly, i.e. complain about the charity organization, spread mistrust about the organization

Ayah 58: Hypocrites accuse Islam for their problems and set backs in life

Ayah 59: Zakah (annual obligatory charity) is due to the:
·        poor (those who have nothing at all),
·        needy (those who have basic things to survive but not enough to fulfull their genuine need like  medicine etc).
·        People who collect Zakah
·        People who are inclined towards Islam (publication of Da’wah material or specifically those people who are prevented from accepting Islam because they fear persecution from their family, i.e. their family will disown them – force them to leave the house, not pay for their education etc. If such people knew that the Muslim community will help them with rent and grocery  etc for a month, they would be more inclined to accept Islam).
·        Captives (bail)
·        People in debt
·        In the way of Allah (military support, Islamic education, Islamic projects such as Muslim Women’s Helpline,  Muslim Women’s shelter, )
·        Travelers (those who have lost everything while they were traveling, or those who are struck by a natural disaster in which they lost their home, money etc, refugees of war)

Ayah 67: Qualities of hypocrite men and women:
·        help each other commit sin and spread evil
·        oppose the commands of Allah deliberately to rebel against Him
·        self-centered and stingy
·        break their promises
·        Mock Muslims

Ayah 79: Allah accepts the little charity given with sincere intention (the example of the companion ra who was able to afford only a hand full of dates for the battle of Tabuuk – the prophet (s.a.w) placed his charity above everything else that was given because of his sincerity. The Prophet (s.a.w) told Aisha (r.a) to add water to her food (to increase its quantity) so she can give some of it as charity to her neighbours).

Ayah  84: The funeral prayer is not performed for the hypocrite and their graves are not visited for the purpose of asking Allah to forgive them

Ayah 85: Message to the believers: do not let the wealth and the pompus lifestyle of the hypocrites impress you.
-they have achieve the glittery life by sacrificing the chance of getting any reward in the Hereafter.

Ayah 93: People who keep making excuses for their laziness will receive a stamp over their hearts and they will be forever marked as Ghafil / Heedless (negligent). O Allah, I seek your refuge from laziness and procrastination aameen.
