Summary: Qur'an Juz 2

JUZ "2"

Ayahs 142-152 of surah baqarah  سورة البقره

Last JUZ "1"ended on the mention of previous nations

Allah wants to prepare the Ummah of Prophet Muhammad (s.a.w) to handle the transfer of responsibility

JUZ "2" starts with this topic of change of Qibla from Aqsa to Makkah

Change is very difficult; to transform one’s lifestyle, eating habits etc requires a conscious effort

Ayah 148: What is the one thing that always turn to, run towards, what is the center of my life, all my efforts are directed towards…?
·         After I die, what will I show Allah with regards to what I strove for?
·         Ka’bah / Allah is the direction of every believer
·         A believer lives a purposeful life

Ø  The Prophet (s.a.w) was sent for 3 reasons: to recite the Qur’an, to teach us wisdom, to purify us

Ø  After Sabr and Salah do Dhikar and Shukar

Ø  Trials are reality and everyday part of life. If you are patient and remember everything belongs to Allah and you will also return to Allah – you will live a happy life and get guidance from Allah

Ø  Laws against eating Haram, gambling and alcohol

Ayah 168: First Test

·         Eat halal and tayyab (pure foods): halal lifestyle

·         Dont fall in the traps of shaitan

Ayah 172: Purpose of eating is to be thankful and worship Allah

Aayh 177- The definition of righteous and good conduct.
·         Not just pray Salah 5 times but also live according to the  article of faith, give in charity out of loe for Allah, take care of weak and oppressed members of family/community, fulfill promises and be patient

Ø  Purpose of Ramadan is to get Taqwa
Ø  Good Husband and wife relations require Taqwa
Ø  Moonsighting needs Taqwa
Ø   To be steadfast on all the commands of Allah necessitaties a soft heart and Taqwa
Ø  Thankfulness, submission, patience, steadfastness, obedience and generosity are all acts of the heart / are rooted in the heart. If you can control your heart you can control your life. A change of heart = transformation of life.

ya muqalaibal quloob sabbit qalbi ala deenik
O Turner of Hearts, keep my heart firm upon Your Religion aameen

Ayah 190-194: Laws concerning violence and warfare
·         All conducts and maneavers in war require Taqwa

Ayah 195:

·         If a person spends only to acquire things of this world – there will be endless greed and malice in her heart
·         Sadaqah keeps the feelings of pride and greet in check
·         Sadaqah cool Allah’s anger, stops calamity and bad death
·         Sadaqah strengthens the Deen

Ayah 196 Hajj and Taqwa
·         Hajj is a practical example of Taqwa – 5 days spent thinking/obeying Allah only. No personal gain or financial profit or sensual gratification

Ayah 197:  The best thing to take on Hajj with you is Taqwa

Ayah 198: Do lots of Dikhr during Hajj

Ayah 221: Qualities of a good life partner

Ayah 222: Rules containing Menstruation

Ayah 223: The example of farmer in working hard to make a good marriage = take care of your most precious treasure (wife)
·         Invest in marriage (for men)
·         Your wife and children are your legacy (for men)

Ayah 224 - 232 Laws of divorce and breast feeding
·         Divorce should not be a painful experience
·         Children should not suffer as a result of divorce

Ayah 238: No matter what storms life gives you, don’t forget Salah to anchor yourself

Ayah 245: Virtues of giving Qard Hasana to Allah
·         Aisha (r.a) would perfume the money she would give in charity  (charity is received by Allah first and then the needy). Give your best with the best intention and character

Ø  Story of Talut and Jalt ….................................,,,...,

LESSON: use your abilities, increase your knowledge make Dua from Allah swt.. Gain taqwa as much as u can in this Ramadan. Remember Allah by the Names of Allah mentioned in this Juzz....
