Summary from Juz 3
(Surah Baqarah: 252-286; Ale Imraam:
1-91)
·
Surah
Baqarah-Ayah 253: “Tilka… ”
Allah prefers some over some – hierarchy based on
religious merit
Allah knows the wisdom behind Him giving preference
to some over others.
This does not mean we should discriminate against
the people at the very top or very bottom. Rather a hierarchy exists so we
recognize and respect the difference among people (including Prophets). The
purpose is to learn tolerance and acceptance of those who are not like us.
·
Ayah
254: Spend for the sake of Allah swt
·
Ayah
255: Ayah al Kursi; introduction to the Supremacy of Allah swt.
-It should be recited in the morning and before
bedtime
- Hadith: whoever reads it will be saved from the
whispers/evil of shayteen and magic, and angel is appointed over her to guard
her.
-Paradise guaranteed to whoever recites it after
every Salah
-It entails the beautiful Qualities and Powers of
Allah: He is EverLiving EverLasting, He does not tire from taking care of the
universes. He is the Master of everything, everything belongs to Him. He
controls intercession. He is All Knowing, no one shares His Knowledge. His
Kursi encompases everything in the heavens and the earth.
-Explanation of Tawheed – Oneness of Allah
-Taqwa is to accept and submit to Allah’s Supremacy
·
Ayah
256:
-No one can be forcibly converted to Islam.
Submission is the state of the heart and it should willingly accept Allah’s
supremacy.
-There is a difference between forcing and
convincing
-Hold onto the handle of Allah swt (complete
reliance upon Allah for everything in life). He will never break your trust or
disappoint you.
-Truth and false are separate
·
Ayah
257:
“Allah is the Wali (close protecting friend) of
those who believe
-He will take us from everything that is negative
into all that is positive
-Lack of sabr and reliance upon Allah leads to
falsehood and belief in other than Allah (taghut / superstitions)
·
Ayah
261:
The reward of everything that is spent in the way
of Allah is multiplied up to 700 times and more
·
Ayah
262-264: Three things that waste the reward of charity are:
-reminding the recipient of charity of your favour
- humiliating or hurting the recipient of charity
through taunts and mockery
-showing off one’s charity
Ayah
263: Speak kind words and forgiveness is better than giving in charity if it will
be followed up humiliation or snobbery
·
Ayah
269: Wisdom is to give the right amount/type of charity at the right time
-Ask Allah for wisdom
- 25 cents given with wisdom sincerely for Allah are
multiplied many times over in reward and therefore better than a lot charity
given foolishly to show off or belittle someone.
·
Ayah
283: How to do business with travelling
-Travelling and business are both extraneously stressful.
Constantly sk Allah forgiveness for the sins committed unknowingly under stress.
·
Ayah286:
Allah does not test us with something we cannot handle.
Every difficulty in our life is tailored to ensure
that we have the strength to bear it. Don’t
get overwhelmed or discouraged by our problems – Allah knows you can handle
them.
Surah AleImraan- Madani Surah:
·
Ayah 6: Allah shapes us
in the wombs as He wills.
Allah has created the structure of our face.
Every person is beautiful. Its the saddest when we make fun of the way
people look because we are indirectly objecting to the way Allah has made His
creation
·
Ayah 7: Two kinds of
ayahs
-Muhkamaat are the verses which contain hukm/commands from Allah. These
are the majority of the verses in the Qur’an
-The Mutashabihaat verses are slightly ambiguous. They contain a
description of the matters of unseen such
as Allah’s Hand and the rivers of Paradise etc. It is not for use to debate
over their interpretation. Believers accept the Qur’an in its entirety from
Allah and follow it the way th Prophet (s.a.w) followed it. Anyone who seeks to
interpret the mutashabihaat verses has deviation in his heart and wants to
spread corruption among the believers.
·
Ayah 8 - Duaa for
guidance and protection from deviating
·
Ayah 14:
There are a lot of attractions in this world but their pleasures are
only transitory. The permanent delights which are far better than what this
world has to offer, are for those who fear Allah.
·
Ayah 35:
Mother of Maryam: she dedicated her baby before it was born to Allah.
Her dream was to raise her baby upon the pleasure of Allah. We only think about
what profession/career our baby will have when he grows up.
She took Allah’s refuge from Shaytan for her baby and her baby’s baby.
We only worry about what our baby will eat and what he will wear.
·
Ayah 39: Zakaria’s (a.s)
duaa is accepted and he is given a baby in old age.
Ask Allah no matter how impossible you think your
request is, it will come to pass if you have good expectation from Allah
·
Ayah 42: Allah swt
chose Maryam above every woman to be the Miss Universe of all times.
