Brief Summary of JUZ "6"
·         Surah An Nisaa Ayah 148
Allah does not like that we make mention of bad things: gossip, backbite about whatever wrong that is happening in the community

·         Ayah 149: Allah forgives though He has the power to punish.

·         Ayah 157-158: Isa (a.s) was neither killed nor crucified but was raised up to Allah with his soul and body. ”

·         Ayah 160 - for their dhulm/injustice , lots of lawful things were made unlawful

·         Ayah 170- 171: Do not exceed in the religion. Say not trinity.

·         Ayah 176: The laws of inheritance are revealed by Allah. It is out of our hands. We do not favour the people we like more than those we don’t. We give according to distribution of Allah. This is justice.

Surah Maidah:

·         Ayah 1: Fulfill your promises and commitment
A person who fears Allah will be true and honest with her word.

·         Ayah 3: Forbidden food: dead animals, animals abused to death, swine, cattle slaughtered without calling out Allah’s Name. Forbidden are also lottery and other games of chance.

·         Ayah 4: Eat lawful food. People who have taqwa will adhere to Islamic dietary laws without looking for loopholes.

·         Ayah 12: Be a team player, be organized and worship Allah as a unit/community. Support the messengers (a.s) and consult one another

·         Ayah 14: Sectarianism and division in the Muslim community is the result of forgetting the original message of Allah

·         Ayah 17: Changing or twisting the words/meaning of Allah’s revelation = Hardness of hearts and distance from the mercy of Allah

·         Ayah 54-56: “Fa fau wasfahu ” –”forgive and forget”

·         Ayah 58: Those who make fun of religion lack common sense.

·         Ayah 59: Why does it affect the Jews and Christians so much that we worship One Allah

·         Ayah 60: Some people were turned into pigs and donkeys

·         Ayah 64: A heart that is full of enmity has necessarily abandoned revelation
Enmity and disunity is a the result of abandoning the Book of Allah

·         Ayah 66: Had they adhered to the Torah, Gospel and the Quran, they would have enjoyed life to the fullest. Sincerity to the revelation of Allah will open doors of provisions from above and beneath.

·         Ayah 73: Desist Trinity

·         Ayah 75: Ummuhu Siddiqa= if mother, Marya (a.s) is a Siddiqah then the kid (Esa a.s) will also be truthful.

·         Ayah 76: How can anyone worship anything (inanimate) that has no power either to harm or benefit?

·         Ayah 77 : Do not exceed the commands of Allah (fall into extremism)

·         Ayah 79 : Allah’s wrath is upon those who suppress the truth and endorse immoralities/indecencies and enmity

·         Ayah  82: Christians are more sympathetic towards Muslims than the Jews and Idol worshippers.


Reflect
-What happened to the previous nations who abandoned the revelation sent to them. They fell into terrible sins and were destroyed.
-We should make a commitment with Qur’an that lasts us beyond this Ramadan
-The guidance in the Qur’an is universal/timeless
-Trust Allah more than our personal strength/abilities. We have limited powers and faculties. Nothing is impossible for Allah. He created and sustains the sky and the earth.
-Allah does not like wrongdoings.
